To determine feasibility of a Bay Area Charter School serving at-risk and/or underprivileged youth that utilizes:
- A completely interdisciplinary and project-based curriculum that is administered at every level via the Socratic Method of instruction;
- Thereby fostering the empirical reasoning, and otherwise critical and creative thinking skills necessary to significantly increase the number of college admissions among targeted students; and,
- To create the kinds of morally, cognitively and emotionally superior citizens needed by the world today to;
- Effectively dismantle the significant barriers that stand between both humanity’s continued survival, and the realization of universal human rights (the two being inexorably linked);
- This goal requiring individuals that are guided by a deep-seated knowledge of the “Self” as it exists within a deeply contextualized literary & scientifically-based understanding of human history, and as a result are;
- Devoted to the ethically driven application of the whole of the scientific, literary and social disciplines toward the achievement of a truly all-inclusive greater good, which shall require;
- A new standard governing the professional enrichment and personal growth of teachers – one that requires not just the mastery of a given discipline, but also demands that an instructor apply his or her knowledge in a wholly collaborative, lattice-structured, and forever evolving venue that is free of traditional disciplinary boundaries, and as a result;
- Create a school culture steeped in the rigorous deconstruction that defines critical theory – the practice of which shall be applied to the ongoing “problematization of pedagogy” needed to administer said curriculum, with vital support coming from;
- Parents and community members, whose informed contributions will be key to maintaining a virtually seamless, community-wide educational environment, thus helping to ensure optimal learning outcomes, and in doing so;
- Shall help re-define “public” education as both a holistic, student-centric exploration of the whole of the Human Condition, as well as a charting of the possibilities presented by the human capacity for proactive, intellectually driven and morally guided evolution.
